tl;dr - Look at the bottom of the post. :|
It's one hell of a long series of posts, isn't it? Don't worry, this is the last one - for now. I said I would make packs for every OS/distro supported. I did. And given it wouldn't be reasonable to post the list of links, I'll just let you have your way with the public folder, which contains reasonably named archives, as well as the xcf. If you can't figure it out: download the archive bearing the name of your distro/OS or anything even remotely resembling it, as well as web, scumm, dos and emu (.tar.bz2 for linux, .zip for the others) if you're into that kind of things. If you feel like making your own, download the xcf, too. That's it.
I'll also throw a humble request in here. I'm not paid for this, I'm not even open for donations, but you can help me. See, it takes a HUGE portion of my storage space. Which is about completely used after this upload (it adds up to (roughly) 1.5Gb out of 2Gb - which is about all I have once my (meagre) backups are out of the way). So if you download those icons and like them, help me regain a bit of space by opening a (free) Dropbox account using this link: http://db.tt/Y3wXt7Fc (I promise you it's not malicious. If you don't believe me, there are un-shorteners out there). You'll get a bit of space, and I'll get a bit of breathing room, which in turn would allow me to upload updates (as well as my personal backups if there are enough "donations") and stuff - a generic linux version for example, could be useful for those not using one of the supported distros. Thanks in advance.
Preview time? Preview time.
And there you have it. Arch, Debian, Fedora, Frugalware, Gentoo, Mac, Mandriva, Mint, Slackware, SuSE, Ubuntu, Windows 7, Windows 8. Thanks ImageMagick.

All prior download links will be rendered unusable and will link back to this post in a moment. Have a nice day. :)
Oh, and by the way - I'm still open to requests, so don't be shy. Just hope I'll have enough space. :)

MOAR. Again. Icons update 2.
102 icons. Two replacements. Total number of icons/games after merging the three packs (newcomers see the other posts - or scroll down to the very bottom of this post - to find the original pack and the first update): 500/500. That's what I'd call a win. (note: you could count them as being 497 - if you don't take the Desura, Dosbox and ScummVM icons as legit. But that would be mean. :D)
Didn't have to cope with dubious material this time. Had to cope with LACK of material. There are quite a few games out there that went full digital, have no nice artwork, and so on. So... yeah, once again, there are a few icons in this pack that aren't up to par with the rest. Still, a so-so icon is better than no icon at all, and I never said I was a wizard.
Also, there's a bunch of retro games in there. Casual gamers and newbies beware.
Guess I'll take a small, much deserved break from icon-making now, and maybe rehash the pack for various distros/OS and stuff if I feel like it. The interwebs are full of slackers after all. ;)
Oh, and the icons STILL look best in 256x256 or 128x128. But it's your life after all.
Anyway.

PS: It's NOT the end of this stupid project. There are still loads of orphan games out there waiting for an icon to be made, and tons of dosbox, scummvm and console games too... It's just a "have I seriously been grinding 700+ icons (two batches with different layouts were scratched) in less than a month?" kind of break. ;)

Rantz0rring, don't mind me.
There's been... quite a ruckus lately, what with EA getting some "indie" bundle out and stuff.
People've been arguing, rageing, trying to coin a new hip term to qualify those who try to give their labour of love away to the world and sh*t. Cause, y'know, there isn't anything more important to do at the moment, and there is even a valid reason for that. Or so they say.
I'd rather say "what the f*ck?", if you please.
Cause frankly...
A. The games in the EA bundle were indie. There's no denying it.
B. What if iD had done the same? (yeah, I know, irrelevant now that it's owned by Bethsoft, but you DID see my point, didn't you?)
C. Valve still qualifies as indie in more than a way.
D. WHO GIVES A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THIS BLOODY WORD?
Wanna replace it? Fine. Instead of picking a hip term, why don't you call it what it truly is at heart: Shareware?
- Oh gosh, no please, don't sully me with a word that's usually thrown around for sh*tty stuff boohoo.
Demise is (or rather was at the time of Infinite Dungeons/Mordor II, not sure about it these days... Oh god, has it been THAT long? T_T) shareware.
Spiderweb Software? Shareware.
Wolfenstein? Shareware.
Veni Vidi Vici (hah, now will any ONE of you remember that one)? Shareware.
Commander Keen? Shareware.
Raptor: Call of the Shadows? Shareware.
Scorched Earth? Shareware.
DOOM? Shareware.
The UnReal World? Shareware.
DROD? Shareware. Oh heck. Even back in the days it was, and I cursed it.
The range of games (and qualities) it covers is essentially... well everything as far as I can tell. The lauded Legend of Grimrock can easily be compared to Demise or Devil Whiskey, 'cept the latters came out a while back and it shows - as it will show with Grimrock in a few years, for example.
So why the HECK don't you use the term and be PROUD of it? Think you'll get more monies from the customer because "oh man it's indie"? Errrr... Lemme guess which one of Three Dead Zed or DROD made the most monies. Sure, one's a longstanding and beloved franchise and 3DZ is all new and stuff. So what?
- Oh hell no, cause you know, there are FREE indie games, and shareware is, like, totally not free.
So WHAT? Wanna have it that way? Fine by me. Look at it again. I didn't say shareware. I said Shareware. With a capital S. Like free/Free. Cause yeah, I saw this one coming, so why not.
You SHARE your games, don't you? It's all about SHARING and CARING. EA doesn't SHARE and EA doesn't CARE. EA's in for a quick shipload of monies, and everyone knows it. But will EA get a bundle out with "shareware" all over it? And even if they did, so WHAT? Jealous cause your game isn't featured?
Is it a throwback? Maybe. So what? Does it make your games any less enjoyable?
F*ck hipsters. You know what you're doing at the moment, and that's creating Shareware games. With or without a capital S.
Now that's off my chest, I may get back to DROD. And icons. And stuff. Thanks for your non-time (as I'm pretty sure nobody'll read this, except... 2 or 3 players. Who may see what I did there if they're old enough).
EDIT - Oh yeah. Almost forgot. http://www.oocities.org/siliconvalley/vista/7362/02041999.html
... Oh sh*t. I'm old. :'( - still, you may want to give it a shot if you have some old comp in a corner, or you're still using windows x86... There are quite a few interesting ideas thrown around for the time. Typical of an indie shareware game.

MOAR. Icon pack update 1.
Next time someone tells me you got nothing to play under GNU/Linux imma buy a 3D printer and force the icons down his throat.
That's a hundred more, people. Bringing us to 400 icons, 399 games (replacement for SpaceChem), and a huge majority of them are native GNU/Linux games.
The list of new games may be found around here: clicky.
Quick preview as usual:
Not all of them are perfect, far from it - as usual. But then again, if you don't like them... DO IT YOURSELF. The xcf is still included in the original archive (see post right below). Or tell me how I could make them better. If you want more, just leave a comment with the games you'd like to see, and I'll see what I can do. Not that anyone will read this, as usual. :)
Download: clicky.
Link to the dropbox folder with both archives: clicky.

End of beta. The massive icon archive.
And so it was that the milestone of 300 games was reached, that all alt icons were purged (there are still a few alt arts which will probably disappear a bit later) and that every game had an icon and every icon was for a different game.
Amen. (clicky for list of games, this is getting slightly too ridiculous to be posted again).
Here's a quick & dirty preview. The previous posts still show some of the icons in a more... reasonable size.
All icons are still easy to customize for your own distro/OS. The xcf is still included. It's still as fun to do, and a little bit easier now. The icons still look best in 128x128 or 256x256 if you ask me.
Feel free to share this thing as much as you want. Just don't take credit for it. Even I don't - the arts aren't mine after all, all I did was make icons out of them the best I could (which is still quite bad when the source material wasn't up to par).
